"Having cut their teeth (not literally) on the indie circuits of Oxford and London, The Gullivers fire off a twinkling brand of puppy-eyed shimmer that reveals a more melodic side to their previous thrash and fervour. This is perhaps due in no small part the addition of keyboardist Sophie McGrath, who brings lashings of extra melody to the mix and lifts the band’s sound above the usual indie jangle. Like Jesus & The Mary Chain if they had been raised solely on Sunny D and hope, ‘Ambulance’ glows with a knowing assurance yet still finds time to float in a bucketload of fragile yearning atop the wistful shimmer of ethereal guitars and build to a woozy climax. ‘Neptune’ is a confessional slowburn that maintains the mood whilst the emphatic ‘Silhouette’ combines chiming guitar with more bruised pathos than Alan Bennett giving a police report minutes after being chinned outside a chip shop. Keep it up guys, and before long the world will listen."
