"After a glut of excellent singles, Good Shoes have at long last unleashed their debut album. The Morden boys have pulled out all the stops too, managing to come up with one of the most instantly impressive British indie rock debuts to assault these ears in some time. Rhys Jones’ voice invites comparisons to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s Alec Ounsworth, but there’s something younger and wider-eyed about this band and their concerns, whether it be the ode to hometown ennui, ‘Morden’ or the stripped bare honesty of ‘Never Meant To Hurt You’’s self-critique. There’s certainly no intention to innovate or take pop music in any new directions on Think Before You Speak, but what you do get in abundance is utterly charming, hugely addictive guitar pop, and that never goes out of fashion. Highly recommended."
