"...His blend of evocative electronic production and his stunning command of an array of acoustic instruments – most notably the piano, makes for a captivating listen through some of the 13 tracks on board. There are some overly familiar nods to the Boards of Canada on tracks like “Velius”, “Suns that Circling Go” and “Clementine” - but when the tempo shifts and the electronic instrumentation is shoved over to one side in favour of more traditional instrumentation and unusual recording techniques, “Unomia” really shines. “Cullin Hill” is the first of these moments on the album – tinkling piano sketches echoing in the distance, while “West Orange” is a simply breathtaking display of classical composition dragged into stranger climes. As such “Unomia” has a split personality – veering from accomplished but ultimately safe electronic terrain to a wildly daring understatement of skill and heart-stopping musical ability. In other words – half this album is OK, the other half incredibly good.
