"Gorgeous shoegaze electronica from Copenhagen, Denmark based Syntaks aka Jakob Skøtt and Anna Cecilia. 'Ylajali' is inspired by the woman of dreams in the novel 'Hunger' by Norwegian author Knut Hamson, who wrote the book a few yards from where this album was recorded, in 1888. Lovers of lush electronica may recognise Syntaks from his releases on Benbecula, Darla or Morr music, records shaped with influences from Eno, Popol Vuh and John Carpenter as much as the shoegaze of early 4AD. For 'Ylajali' he's concocted a romantic fever dream of post rock and electronica, electronically treating acoustic instruments for hallucinatory effect, making his piano keys shimmer, and atmospheres lucid with a magical effervescence. This album is a delight for any fans of Ulrich Schnauss, Slowdive, Bibio or more recent BoC material executed to the highest standards an carrying the all important emotional clout. "
