"If ever there was an LP that sounded EXACTLY the way its sleeve looked, this would be it. Beach Head is an unfathomably spaced out, four track long psychedelic epic, combining all those slightly queasy new age-isms that seem to be so in-vogue right now in the improv/psych community. Ancient, Popol Vuh-style synth modulations get buried under a heap of generic 'Eastern' vibes, echo-erased vocals and all manner of jangly, smudged out percussion. Like the sleeve, you suspect all this trance-inducing far-outness is a little bit tongue in cheek, but it's terrifyingly hard to tell these days, isn't it?"
